Quick & Easy steps to get your marriage license in Las Vegas
The Basics
Open 7 days a week 8:00am to midnight (open on all holidays, no exceptions)
You must be unmarried and at least 18 years old
You must have government issued ID (with a recognizable photo) aka: your license or passport
You must have your ceremony performed in Nevada by an Officiant licensed in Nevada
Someone other than your Officiant must witness you saying your vows (your photographer is OK if it’s just the two of you)!
Once you have your license, you can get married immediately!!
Marriage license expires 1 year from the date it was issued
1. Do BEFORE you get to Vegas
Fill out the pre-application for your license online
You both must fill out your own information
Your names must match exactly as shown on the identification that will be used when appearing in person (check your spelling)
Once you have submitted, save your confirmation number and bring it with you!
After you have done step one, you can’t do anything else Marriage License related until you are physically in Las Vegas. So don’t think about it again until you are boots on the ground.
If you would like a friend or family member to be your officiant, they just have be Ordained in the state of Nevada. It is pretty quick and easy through the Universal Life Ministry’s Online Instant Ordination linked here. Follow the instructions and wait for your confirmation. We suggest whomever you’d like to Officiate for you do this before getting to Vegas.
2. When you get to Vegas – Pick up your Marriage License
This does not take a lot of time and from leaving your hotel to walking out with your license, you will at most lose 2 hours. You will be in the heart of downtown, minutes away from Fremont St, Main Street (That Chapel Downtown) and the entire Arts District! If you do not have other plans for after, make getting lunch and exploring a bit part of your day! I will never not recommend Esther’s Kitchen, The Pepper Club or Letty’s!
